“Everybody Street illuminates the lives and work of New York’s iconic street photographers and the incomparable city that has inspired them for decades. The documentary pays tribute to the spirit of street photography through a cinematic exploration of New York City, and captures the visceral rush, singular perseverance and at times immediate danger customary to these artists. Covering nine decades of street photography, “Everybody Street” explores the careers and influences of many notable photographers––a number of whom have never been documented, featuring: Bruce Davidson, Elliott Erwitt, Jill Freedman, Bruce Gilden, Joel Meyerowitz, Rebecca Lepkoff, Mary Ellen Mark, Jeff Mermelstein, Clayton Patterson, Ricky Powell, Jamel Shabazz, Martha Cooper, and Boogie, with historians Max Kozloff and Luc Sante."

this is probarly one of my least favourite pictures,it is set in school life aswell but messing around but i surpose because we asked tom to do it so we could get a photo it still kinda went well so for this photo messing around got me this image. because there was not actually much reason to this picture because there is no depth of field or its not really showing anything there is all tho there is contrast and saturation in this picture the colour changes on the colour of toms t shirt from the reflection of the sun going on to toms t-shirt going dark lighter lighter and lighter.this photo was urpose to catch tom splashing water from the fountain into the air as you can obviously see it did not actually come out as good as i thought it would of have but if u look closer to wear the water comes out of the fountain you can see some splash of the water flying up into the air.
Here is one of my most favourite pictures,It is about school life .because it has a wide depth of field.because you can see right to the end of the school buildings so it has half of the school and some children from the school and one of the main reasons aswell why i like this image is because when you look in the magazines for going into a secondary school it looks like one of them images.it has line depths going tono each angle straight and right and straight paralel lines on the top of the buildings.Allso if the photo was in half you would be able to see half of the school and school life in school because if i cut the picture in half u can see a little bit of the school building and school kids looking happy going towards their next lesson in the back ground u can see the blue sky and the moving company in the back ground aswell that shows how far back u can allso see.All so as you can see in this picture there is a range of colours like in the sky the colour of it goes from a dark blue to when it goes further into the picture it gets lighter.
why do street photographers do cropping and shadows in their photos?.
shadows.well the way you take a picture with some ones shadow inito it or any object you have to do it like this at first you have to make sure its a sunny day or make sure it is outside so that you can get the reflection of the person object or animal onto the floor or the wall so that the sun makes the shadow reflect on to the wall or floor or anything else.
|
cropping.cropping is when you take a picture with some one else or another object in the same photo with the other person making it look like u have a person like appearing out from the other one or they r joint together.

my task given.
the task i was given was to be independent too go out around the school and take photos on my own i think i have all most been acomplished the task i have been given the reason why i havent is because i was scared a bit to walk into 6 form class rooms and just to take photos of the students in their taking photos from other their shoulders of their work and everything i took atleast one of them and some other type of photos as you can see from down below.
this is probably my favourite picture i took from the task i got given to do on my own.Because i saw the bin so i faught what if i took a photo from where the rubbish goes and gets thrown into the bin.i had to move the bin backwards and little bit and turnt it around so that i could capture the photo i was aiming for witch i kind of did get to i was trying to just aim at the guy putting the rubbish into a bin but unfortunately 2 of my mates got in the way but yet for some reason even with them in the way i still like the photo because it shows some of the school a cleaner that works for the school and students from the school so everyday school life really i surpose i think that why i like it and that the picture looks like it has some weird type of lence on the camera witch you can tell it does not obviously because u can see the metal from the inside of the bin all so you can not get camera lences like this. i would not say it is much street photography type in school photo thing because one i am not in the streets but i have shown buildings and people doing their normal day life in school like you you scroll back up to look at photos i have a 6th form girl getting on doing her art work.
triangles .
triangles are where you have a big picture and you then see loads of little triangles leading from one thing to another like say if you have 3 peoples heads spaced out like if they are sitting on a table one on the left one on the right and one on top of the table if you drew a line connecting to each others heads it would form out a triangle.Triangles are all so a compositional techniques it is one of the best compostional techniques to use for street photography.
Here is a picture by eric kim witch all so has triangles inside it it has been taken with a photo of a man a photo in a frame and coin or something that looks like a coin the triangles been taken from the mans head to the photo frame with the picture inside its head and and the coin back to the man head at the top that has all formed a triangle.
street photography experiance in london (photography trip).
last week i had a photography trip up in london going to a photography gallary but on the ay there i had to take some street photography so i had my first expericance of street photography.it was kind of scary but im not sure why i fount it easier doing it in london but not in school plus in london you had more people like differant types of people getting on doing differant things.it was a really good day and i enjoyed it much the thing i mainly liked was taking pictures on the way and on the way to and back from the gallary.Because i got a good range of images but i think i should of took more picutres of things that wasnt just people. my photos i have taken are underneath.(the gallery was called the tate model)
harry callahan,Harry Morey Callahan was born in detroit, michigan he worked at chrysler when he was a young man then left the company to study engineering at michingham state . However he eventually dropped out, returned to Chrysler and joined its camera club.Callahan began teaching himself photography in 1938. He formed a friendship with todd webb who was also destined to become a photographer.A talk given by ansel adams in 1941 inspired him to take his work seriously.some of harry callahan's photos are street photography and some other are not like the one i have chosen i think he concentrates more on people figures more then street photography so they are around people even in his street photography.
william egleston!
william egleston is an american photographer,he is known as a colour photographer(a legimate photographer). He was sent to a bording school when he was 15.Eggleston's early photographic efforts were inspired by the work of Swiss-born photographer Robert frank,Eggleston taught at Harvard in 1973 and 1974, and it was during these years that he discovered dye transfer printing he was examining the price list of a photographic lab in Chicago when he read about the process.
some of my 4 favourite images i took on the trip.
the photos above are the best photos i chose from the photography trip i went to to the tate museum they are my favourites because well as an example the ginger lady and the tree are just perfectly still i wish i got to take more images of her to make them look a bit more expert type i just fount taking one of her being ext to the tree would be a good photo just unfortunatly after i took the photo she looked up witch i just where i captured the picture she walked away wich was quite disapointing. The one with the guy wearing gold and yellow is anotherone of my favourites because it has a blur on the picture id say if i caught it with the back ground still and the guy running would look a bit more better but he was running so i had to run up next to him to capture it that why the background is not still there was many opertunities to take on that trip photos wise i just didnt capture some of the ones that were more deep into the street photography i mainly took obvious ones.Even though i really like them im quite disapointed with some because if i could of i would of changed some things about them.
rules of thirds.
The rules of thirds is a grid of lines that are equally and have 9 differant boxes for griding up where you get to choose where to stick stuff in your photo like peoples heads the you could put in the middle and for ground on the bottom and back ground on the top wich would be a good example of a rule of thirds picture down below is an example of rules of thirds
my rules of thirds pictures down below.
down below are some of my own rules of thirds pictures im not to sure about them really as it was my frist try with them i think if i had more practice with it i would get better with it obviously but as my first go i didnt think it went that bad really.
here is a picture of the website everybody street
this is a picture the photographer boogie has taken when he went into the bad part of the town and shows all the gangsta part of the town.i really like this picture because it shows the darkside of the town and has a dark background im not too sure why i like this but i think its because it shows bad time in the town all the happy people live in.
down below is a a slideshow of diagonal lines.
photos from everybodys street evalution.
i choose this image because i faught it was quit an odd image because the person in the photo he looks like a zombie even though he isnt because zombies are not real but because it not a zombie he is just an odd looking person.even though the person looks odd it is still a very good self portrait photo because it is in black and white and has a dark shadow background behind him.
Photos that do not fit in to rules of thirds.
I have responded to the challenge of taking a series of photos which do not fall into the rule of thirds. I found the task quite difficult at first, as up until now we are used to framing our images. I think I was quite successful with these images because I think that they do not really look less interesting, because they are not really focusing on anything in particular, and nothing intresting are in the rules of thirds boxes.
One of the photos where I am standing on top of the link or at the bottom have quite long depth of field. There is not really a particular point which the eye is drawn to, but the area which is light is quite eye catching. Also one thing I like in one of the images is when im standing next to the building taking an image of the long length of the links and thee thing i really like about that image is the shadow of the links shinning down onto the floor it just really catches my eye. Also the one when i am standing on top of a bench to get a higher point of view so the photos depth would go further out through the school. I think there was probarly only one image i didnt like in the whole section witch was probarly the one when im standing on top of the stairs and no ones at the bottom its just the long stair case but i guess its a good image at the same time becuase its not intresting at all plus the the stair case is really the only thing you are looking at because there is not really anything acctually in the image to look at. |

compare and contrast.
things that these 2 photos have the same os that they are both the same pictures just taken in a differant angle and time like the one on the right it is day time and is allso raining and the one of the left is night time after it has been raining witch you can tell by looking at the floor on the left one to the right.Allso the left photo has been taken from a bit further down the street weather as the one on the right is closer because you can tell by the studio sign because ones further then the other.I am not sure on the meanings of these photographs and im not sure
the thing in theese two pictures witch compare them to both together is that they are both in black and white and from the look of the cars in the back ground they look similar so they could be from around the same time.and the way the 3 women are dressed in the picture from the left it moved around from the tme in the images so if it was my guess i would say they both come from around the same background of time. photographer on the left is gary winogrand, photographer on the right is louis faurer.I am not to sure if there is a meaning of these 2 photographs their probarly is a reason but i just cant get what the meaning of thees e 2 photographs meaning are im think that for the picture on the right its a guy waiting for a girl so he can go on a date.and the picture of the girls on the left i think its 3 girls just going on a girls night out.
cropping and shadows images
looking down photos.
walk on by images
this is the only over the shoulder picture i have and it is one of my favorite over the shoulder picture i have.
reflections&shadows
i really like these pictures i have taken of reflections ans shadows because i think they are better then the first lot i took when i first started photography i really like most of the reflections and the shadows from outside.
surfaces.
these photos are the first photos i have taken and to be honest i really like some of them quite a lot i think they are the first one i have done that i think i really like and i hope that most of them where right for surfaces.
down below are 4 of some of my favorite images i have taken since i started photography they allso has an evaluation to.
here is the evaluation for my 4 favourite images.
picture 1,the reason why i choose this photo as one of my favourite photos is because i just thaught that it was my best photo from the subject where the photo does not fit in to rule of thirds,Witch is what i wanted to achive witch i did because the photo is not acctually focused on anything its just a plain photo of the school witch is what i wanted to get in the photo, other opinions on my photo is that i like where i have taken the photo because u can see the school buliding the links a massive shadow comming of the link the school bins and other things to this photo allso has a long depth of field because you can see straight down to the other side of the school as well.
picture 2,reason me me choosing this photo is because the guy wearing all gold was running past me so i had to capture the photo quickly before he went past me and the way i captured it gave it a blur effect witch is allso kind of good even just looking at the picture,Another reason for me liking this picture is that it is an unsual person to see go out joking like that wearing a gold/yellow outfit witch allso makes the photo stand out just from the plain background. picture 3,now for this picture i like this because 0f the effect the sun gave onto the camera as u can see the sun on the top left and the ffect on the bottom right witch are the 6 blue lines going across the screen im glad i captured the picture allso because of the person i chose to take the photo of he just looks like a normal old person getting on with his life up in london witch just gives off a good effect to the area aswell. finally picture 4,this photo is a photo ment to be captured with a rules of third witch it does because you have the 2 girls heads in the foreground of the photo and the last one further in the background of the photo and by the way they are standing its formed a shape of a traingle witch i am not really good at getting with out asking them to stand in a trainagle so for a picture that i didnt need to ask for and i got really well im proud aat my self for getting this image. |
