Abstraction
Introduction:
people recon that abstraction is in everyday life in photography. But some people think different.
Abstraction is:Abstraction is a type of art and also photography,Abstraction photography concentrate on the colour, shape,The pattern and texture. The subject of the photo is usually really small part of the ideal image people who view the image only think its just a normal image and not know the fact that it is abstraction.People usually understand the image the second time viewing it unless you know what the image is straight away. The abstract tends to show patterns, textures, angles, crop, colour variation etc.

examples of abstration photography
Here are a few images of abstraction photography i really like these photos because looking at it drew my attention to the image i really like the photo in the middle and id like to try to take some photos like that.
Abstraction artists

My attempt of abstraction photography
These photos are my first attempts of abstract photography,Im not sure if they are what i should of have done because im not 100% on what my abstraction would be for around school but i have given it a try.I really like the photo i took of the one on the bridge with the close up light and light in the far background because i made the camera light to do dark and put flash on for the light from both lights on the bridge and far background to light up.Im not to sure but just out all of them my least favourite would have to be the picture of the black door because its just a plain image and just isnt doing anything as much ass all of the other images i have taken around the school.Like these images i have taken i find it succesful that in some of my photos that i like to focus on the foreground of my photos and try to make the background as a blur as much as i can.whats not sucssesful is when i dotn do that.
Aaron Siskind.
Aaron siskind, was an american photographer, who had a massive passion for abstract expression movement. He has a autobiography,And In his autobiography,It says how he got into photography,Which was a wedding gift from some one at his wedding,On his honeymoon he went around with his camera and took photos and since then he realised he has a talent for photography,He then got a job in new york and chicago.(Aaron siskind was born october 4 1903 and pasted away february 8 1991).
Here is some of Siskind abstraction pieces.Because these images are in black and white it gives it a different view in a way it makes the photos seem old and that they were taken a long time ago which links to how the guy is dressed as well it looks old fashioned and leads to a different image id say these images are full on movement and chaotic by the way he has the paint on the wall and the ripped up piece of posters on the walls its dark and sketchy. |
I had gone out and tried to take images like Aaron Siskind and this is what i had came out with its pretty hard trying to do his work in school,But i don't want to aim my work based on him i have got rough idear on what i would like to do its just trying it out.As i said i dont like theee images i have taken i like the nature ones mainly where i focus more on the foreground and not background because i get clothes up to say like a leaf and focus on to the leaf and have the background as a blur which is what i find successful with my photography.
formal element:focus
These 3 images are based on the formal element of focus because as i said if you can see in these images i focus on foreground and when i take the image i make the background in a blur but i wont just base it around nature it will based on everything but mainly in focus in foreground and background out of focus but I might change it around now and then.

Focus and lines
|
These images I have taken are based around on focus and lines,My favourite photos i have taken in this slide show are the ones of the green stairs where the black rail goes from a straight long line and then friend on top of the stairs in a black blur its not only just eye catching but has 2 elements in the image as ive already said i also really like the image of my friend runnin past and the side of the door with the sign in the images too because its just a dead straight line bold with the sign is what you would notice first and then looking carefuly you notice that my friend running past is also in a blur too which is for the focus so foreground is in focus and background is a blur.

What went well
This photo is the best photo that went to well because,The way the photo went from a blur to a dead on straight line in the image with a blur of somebody standing on the top of the stairwell,Which is good because it is 2 of the 4 formal elements that i had to chose from,I think lines and blur would be one of the best 2 choices to chose from as they match together really well as the 2 in that one photo because not only the 2 formal elements but it also catches my eye i do not know if it does for anybody else but i just do the way all the lights are in a blur and going smudgy to the black line going from an dead on straight line to disappearing into a blur as well and again you got the person standing at the top of the stairwell.
12 photos homework/lines and focus
Here are 8 photos i took for my photography homework over the holiday,i do really enjoy going out on my camera taking photos like these on my camera just walking around doing photos like these. My favourite images out of these 8 is the one of the water fountain were it is focused on the twigs in front and the fountain is out of focus in the background,This image also has quite a big range dept field as you can tell by you can make out the building in the far background.I also really like the christmas tree and the lamp post in front of the camera ,Because the christmas trees lights and balls are sparking of each other but because i made it into a blur i thought it looked a lot better and goes with my element theme which are lines and focus.

Lines
These images are taken on an ipod so i only decided to do pictures of lines from around of the school. These are not brilliant and i do not exactly like them that much but there are some good ones that i really like such as the ones with the wigs hanging of the trees with brnaches going across from them all going over the camera.

Paul strand

Francesca Woodman
Francesca Woodman,is also an american photographer she is best known for her black and white abstraction photographs.Francesca's photographs are usually of her or other female models,Many of the younger women in her photos are nude but blurred from movement and long exposure. Her photos are usually themed on her surroundings and obscured faces,Francesca's work still goes around till today after she killed her self at a very young age.
out of all of these photographs all by Francesca my favourite one would have to be the one with the curtain and the woman's arm and the light because it just catches my eye the most out of all the range of photos there by here and her theme in the image would be light focus i recon this because this because well light from the light reflecting off the curtain which also has lines going across it and the woman's arm in the photo also. |
Uta barth
Uta Barths photography work is what i look up to i would say this because my work is all most the same as hers allthough she concentrates more on the shadows and lines with blur and focus and mine is mainly focused on lines and focus. As you can see from my photos above and examples of her down below.
final piece developing
For my final piece i have chosen to use photo shop to complete my final piece.down below is a screen shot to show what it is i have done to do my final piece. For my final pieces i have chosen to get a shape and change the shape around with the original image inside of it and turn it around so it would be in a different area just like in the screen shot below to prove i have used photoshop for my actions on my final piece.
My three final pieces
My final evaluation
This is my final evaluation on abstraction,i have made this images by using pictures i took on my camera over the christmas holidays and to make them look like this i had to use photoshop and keep cutting and copying different sections of my image for the circle bit in the middle of my images.I got this idea from pintrests i did have a screenshot to how you what image it was that gave me the idea but i lost the screenshot and can not find the piece of work on pintrests,I really enjoyed using photo shop to create my image although it took a long time and a lot of pationce to do so,i might do some more images just like these using photoshop when we do the lessons and maybe some others to see the out come.things i like about using photoshop for my final piece is that i have different sections from around the images flipped around into the circle in the middle yet still having the original image in the middle.
